Staff Field Day

Wednesday, June 4th 2008

To celebrate one of the last days of school, we did like all the other elementary schools in America do; field day. The kids had their games in the morning while the staff had our games in the afternoon. All the kids were packed into the gym to watch us participate.... what a great educational experience! The staff was divided into 2 teams, yellow and blue. I was on the blue team with my principal as our team captain. We all wore our bandannas around our heads, arms, or legs. Hmmm... I wonder if this goes against the "no gang symbols" part of the dress code?

Remember those scooters from your own elementary days? Yeah, and I remember the inevitable "floor burn" that always happened on those days. We also played a football throwing/catching game, a ping-pong ball on a spoon game, blindfolded basketball, and a TP mummy roll game. It was a pretty fun afternoon!

Our grand finale was a brief karaoke session to Alice Cooper's School's Out For Summer. You should have seen (up close) the teachers in their 80's rocker clothes. Flippin' hilarious. I, by the way, was wearing a black hat with some nasty long, black, curly hair hanging from it. One of the teachers made guitars out of foam board, and other teachers brought their kids' Guitar Hero guitars. For as much as the collective group complained about doing it, the teachers were still talking about it on Monday (6/2) - and we did this last Thursday (5/29)! We knew it was a big hit with the kids when they started asking for our autographs! It's nice to let loose sometimes.
